Alpex Solar has inaugurated a 2.2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility at the Kosi-Kotwan Industrial Area in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, marking the company’s entry into solar cell production.
The new facility forms part of Alpex Solar’s backward integration strategy and is aimed at strengthening its position across the solar manufacturing value chain.
Spread across approximately 9 lakh sq ft, the Mathura facility will manufacture G12R TOPCon solar cells. The company has described the project as Uttar Pradesh’s first integrated TOPCon giga manufacturing line.
The addition of solar cell manufacturing expands Alpex Solar’s existing photovoltaic operations and is expected to strengthen its ability to serve growing domestic demand for high-efficiency solar products.
According to the company, G12R TOPCon technology is designed to provide higher efficiency and improved power output, supporting the industry’s transition towards more advanced solar-cell technologies.
The Mathura investment is part of Alpex Solar’s broader plan to develop an integrated solar manufacturing platform covering solar cells, modules and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services.
Beyond solar cells and modules, the company also operates in related segments including solar pumps and aluminium frames, giving it a presence across multiple areas of the solar-energy ecosystem.
Alpex Solar’s manufacturing footprint currently extends across Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The company is also planning additional capacity across Greater Noida, Kosi-Kotwan and Madhya Pradesh as it continues to expand its production capabilities.
The 2.2 GW TOPCon facility represents an important step in Alpex Solar’s backward integration strategy and adds new domestic manufacturing capacity as India continues to expand its solar-energy infrastructure.
