India and Germany Deepen Renewable Energy Partnership to Drive Sustainable Growth

India and Germany have reaffirmed their long-standing collaboration in renewable energy and sustainable development during Parliamentary State Secretary Johann Saathoff’s four-day visit to Chennai and Delhi-NCR. Marking 25 years of strategic energy cooperation, the visit reinforced both nations’ shared vision for a green, resilient, and technology-driven future.

The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in solar, wind, and green hydrogen technologies, as well as promoting Agri-Photovoltaic (Agri-PV) systems that enable simultaneous food and energy production.

At the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2025, Saathoff inaugurated the German Pavilion, showcasing the “Team Germany” approach — a collaborative framework integrating ministries, agencies such as GIZ and KfW, and private enterprises to strengthen global renewable energy value chains.

During the Indo-German CEO Roundtable, key stakeholders exchanged insights on solar manufacturing, technology transfer, and sustainable investment opportunities. Saathoff also visited the Agri-PV demonstration site at IARI, calling it a “third harvest” that enhances both food and energy security.

The visit, part of the Green and Sustainable Development Partnership (GSDP), underscored the commitment of both countries to drive innovation-led climate action and foster a sustainable, equitable global energy transition.
