Premier Energies has commissioned a new 7 GW N-type TOPCon G12R solar cell manufacturing facility in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh, expanding its total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 10.6 GW.
The new facility represents an investment of ₹3,293 crore and is currently undergoing trial runs as the company prepares to progressively ramp up commercial production.
Spread across approximately 101 acres, the manufacturing plant has been designed to produce around 88,000 solar cells per hour, significantly expanding Premier Energies’ high-efficiency solar manufacturing capabilities.
The facility incorporates artificial intelligence, advanced digital systems and automated manufacturing processes. These technologies will support predictive performance analysis, precision manufacturing and improved process control across production operations.
Transport and packaging processes within the facility have also been fully automated, helping improve operational efficiency and consistency.
Once production stabilises and reaches its planned scale, Premier Energies is targeting an average solar cell efficiency of approximately 25.8%.
The plant manufactures N-type TOPCon G12R solar cells, a high-efficiency technology increasingly being adopted by the global solar industry to improve power output and module performance.
The manufacturing infrastructure has also been designed to accommodate future technology upgrades, including next-generation TOPCon+ technologies. This provides the company with flexibility as solar cell technologies continue to evolve.
Premier Energies said the additional capacity will strengthen its ability to meet growing demand for high-efficiency solar products while improving manufacturing efficiency and supply-chain resilience.
The 7 GW facility forms part of the company’s broader expansion strategy. Premier Energies is simultaneously executing a ₹12,500 crore capital expenditure programme over three years to expand its manufacturing capabilities.
With total solar cell manufacturing capacity now reaching 10.6 GW, the Naidupeta facility further expands India’s domestic solar manufacturing base and Premier Energies’ presence in the high-efficiency solar technology segment.
