RMC Switchgears has secured Letters of Award worth ₹14.99 crore from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the supply and installation of off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems across Maharashtra.
The order covers a comprehensive range of activities, including the design, manufacture, supply, transportation, installation, testing and commissioning of solar-powered water pumps at identified farmers’ locations across the state.
Under the contract, RMC Switchgears will deploy solar water pumping systems with capacities of 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP. These systems are intended to provide farmers with reliable access to solar-powered irrigation while reducing their dependence on conventional grid electricity and diesel-powered pumps.
In addition to installation and commissioning, the company will provide system warranties, repair and maintenance services and remote monitoring systems for a period of five years.
The contract has been awarded under the Maharashtra government’s Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana and the Central government’s PM-KUSUM Component B scheme, both of which promote the adoption of standalone solar-powered agricultural pumps.
The project has been structured as an empanelment and rate contract and will be executed over a five-year period.
Solar-powered irrigation systems can help farmers reduce recurring energy expenses while expanding the use of decentralised renewable energy in the agricultural sector. They can also provide greater energy independence in areas where reliable grid electricity for irrigation may be limited.
The latest order strengthens RMC Switchgears’ presence in the renewable energy and solar irrigation segment while supporting Maharashtra’s efforts to increase clean-energy adoption across its agricultural sector.
