Sunsure Energy has signed a long-term 20 MW wind-solar hybrid Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Kajaria Ceramics for an upcoming renewable energy project in Barmer, Rajasthan.
The hybrid project will comprise 10 MW of solar capacity and 10 MW of wind capacity. It is designed to provide a more consistent renewable electricity supply by combining solar and wind generation.
Power generated from the project will be supplied on a round-the-clock basis to Kajaria Ceramics' facilities in Gailpur and Alwar, supporting the company's efforts to increase the share of renewable energy in its operations.
According to the companies, the project is expected to generate approximately 52.5 million units of electricity annually. It is also projected to help reduce around 42,000 tonnes of CO₂e emissions every year.
With the latest 20 MW agreement, the total renewable energy capacity contracted between Sunsure Energy and Kajaria Ceramics has increased to 27 MW. The partnership builds on an earlier 7 MW solar PPA signed by the two companies in 2023.
The wind-solar hybrid structure is expected to improve the consistency of renewable power supply compared with standalone solar generation, helping Kajaria Ceramics meet its energy requirements while advancing its sustainability and decarbonisation goals.
Rajasthan is also becoming an important market in Sunsure Energy's clean-energy expansion strategy. The company plans to commission nearly 2 GW of solar, wind and battery energy storage capacity in the state by 2028.
The Barmer hybrid project highlights the growing adoption of long-term renewable PPAs by industrial and commercial consumers seeking cleaner, more reliable and cost-effective power.
