The Maharashtra government has appointed 12 senior recovery officers under district collectors in six key districts to fast-track the recovery of ₹912 crore sanctioned by MahaRERA for homebuyers.

This move, formalized through a government resolution on April 22, follows pressure from homeowners facing delays despite favorable MahaRERA orders. So far, only ₹222 crore has been recovered, with ₹690 crore still pending, mainly in Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad. The new officers will focus on enforcing recovery warrants, property attachments, and structured reporting, aiming to clear all pending cases within three months. The appointments align with central government guidelines for stricter real estate regulation enforcement and mark a renewed push to deliver relief to aggrieved homebuyers awaiting compensation.
