Torrent Green Energy Commissions 322 MW Solar Projects in Nashik

Torrent Green Energy, the renewable energy arm of Torrent Power, has commissioned 322 MW of ground-mounted, decentralised solar power projects across Maharashtra’s Nashik district.

The large-scale solar rollout is spread across 50 locations covering 14 talukas in the district. Electricity generated from these projects will be supplied to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) under 25-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

The projects have been developed under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0, an initiative aimed at expanding feeder-level solarisation and providing reliable daytime electricity to agricultural consumers.

MSKVY 2.0 supports feeder-level solarisation under Component-C of the PM-KUSUM scheme. By deploying decentralised solar generation closer to agricultural demand centres, the programme aims to improve power availability for farmers while supporting Maharashtra’s renewable energy transition.

Torrent Power said the development of the 322 MW portfolio required coordinated execution across multiple locations. The work involved land acquisition, grid connectivity, local regulatory approvals, engineering and construction across the project sites.

The company highlighted collaboration between MSEDCL, local authorities, landowners, contractors and other project partners as an important factor in completing the decentralised solar rollout.

The projects are expected to strengthen daytime electricity availability for farmers and agricultural consumers, reducing dependence on conventional power supply during farming hours.

Decentralised solar projects can also reduce the distance between electricity generation and consumption, supporting more efficient power distribution while increasing the share of renewable energy in the agricultural sector.

The commissioning of 322 MW across Nashik represents a significant addition to Maharashtra’s decentralised renewable energy infrastructure and supports the broader objective of solarising agricultural power supply.
