National, March 30, 2026:
In a significant development under India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited, has signed a Green Ammonia Purchase Agreement (GAPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
The agreement involves the supply of 70,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia and was executed on March 30, 2026, under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) scheme of the Government of India.
As part of the arrangement, NTPC REL will supply green ammonia to Krishna Phoschem Limited at its Meghnagar facility in Madhya Pradesh, with SECI acting as the intermediary procurer.
This deal marks a major milestone in NTPC Green Energy’s expanding portfolio in the green hydrogen and ammonia sector. The company is actively positioning itself as a large-scale supplier of zero-carbon ammonia catering to fertiliser and industrial segments, contributing to India’s decarbonisation goals.
NTPC’s flagship Pudimadaka–Visakhapatnam Green Hydrogen Hub is a cornerstone of this strategy. The project is planned to produce 2.5 million tonnes per annum of green chemicals, including green ammonia, green methanol, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and green urea.
The agreement underscores India’s accelerating push toward clean energy transition and the development of a robust green chemicals ecosystem.
