KP Group has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of the Republic of Botswana to develop renewable energy generation, storage, and transmission infrastructure, involving an investment of around $4 billion (₹36,000 crore).
The collaboration aims to raise Botswana’s renewable energy capacity to nearly 5 GW while strengthening regional power connectivity. The MoU, signed with Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy following President Droupadi Murmu’s visit, covers the planning, development, and implementation of renewable and high-voltage transmission projects, including cross-border interconnections.
The initiative is expected to require approximately 25,000 acres of land and generate 6,000–7,000 jobs during installation, with around 1,500 long-term positions over 25 years. Power generated from these projects is projected to supply electricity to over 10,000 households.
In addition to infrastructure development, KP Group will fund 30 annual scholarships for Botswana citizens in renewable energy and allied fields, supporting local skill development.
This project marks KP Group’s strategic expansion beyond India, complementing its existing 6 GW portfolio and its 10 GW target by 2030, while contributing to Botswana’s clean energy transition, regional integration, and socio-economic development.
