Tata Power Launches Zero-Upfront Rooftop Solar Scheme for Punjab Businesses

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has launched its innovative 'Pay-As-You-Save' rooftop solar scheme for commercial and industrial consumers in Punjab, beginning with Ludhiana. The initiative is designed to accelerate the adoption of clean energy by eliminating upfront capital investment, enabling businesses to transition to solar power without significant initial expenditure.

As part of the programme, TPREL aims to install approximately 200 MW of rooftop solar capacity across Punjab over the next three years. The scheme is expected to benefit a wide range of industries, including textiles, engineering, auto components and food processing, which continue to face rising electricity costs and increasing sustainability requirements.

Offered under Tata Power's Sustainable Edge initiative, the financing model allows businesses to repay their solar investment through monthly EMIs or lease rentals that are aligned with the savings generated from reduced electricity bills. This approach helps improve cash flow while delivering long-term operational cost savings and reducing carbon emissions.

The company has also introduced the SunSmart Flexi EMI programme, offering collateral-free financing, competitive interest rates, flexible repayment tenures and a fully digital approval process. These features are intended to simplify access to rooftop solar systems and encourage faster adoption among commercial and industrial enterprises.

With zero upfront investment, flexible financing options and predictable energy savings, Tata Power's latest initiative positions rooftop solar as a practical and financially viable solution for businesses seeking greater energy independence, improved operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.
