Adani Green Plans ₹42,000 Crore Capex in FY27 to Add 5 GW Renewable Capacity

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has announced plans to invest around ₹42,000 crore in capital expenditure during FY27 to add nearly 5 GW of renewable energy capacity, reinforcing its aggressive clean energy expansion strategy.

The investment plan was outlined by Sagar Adani during the company’s latest earnings call, where management highlighted its balanced approach between rapid capacity growth and transmission infrastructure readiness.

In FY26, AGEL added more than 5 GW of greenfield renewable energy capacity, marking the highest annual capacity addition globally outside China. This expansion has increased the company’s operational renewable energy portfolio to 19.3 GW, further consolidating its leadership position in India’s clean energy sector.

The company said it has the ability to scale annual additions to 7–8 GW, but is currently pacing expansion in line with grid availability and transmission infrastructure to ensure efficient power evacuation and system reliability.

AGEL has reaffirmed its long-term target of achieving 50 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, in line with India’s broader non-fossil energy goals.

A major contributor to this growth remains the Khavda Renewable Energy Park project in Gujarat, which currently has around 9.4 GW of operational wind, solar, and hybrid renewable capacity. The Khavda project is emerging as one of the world’s largest integrated renewable energy parks.

Beyond power generation, AGEL is also strengthening its energy storage portfolio through increased investments in battery energy storage systems (BESS) and pumped storage projects. These assets are critical for improving grid stability, ensuring round-the-clock renewable energy supply, and managing the intermittency associated with solar and wind generation.

The company’s FY27 investment roadmap reflects a broader strategy of combining renewable generation growth with energy storage infrastructure, positioning AGEL to support India’s transition towards a more reliable and sustainable power ecosystem.
