Art and Innovation Hub is part of the rural educational campus of Agastya International Foundation in Guddivanka, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh.
This unique facility fosters a fun-based, interactive learning environment that blends art, science, and design thinking to spark creativity among children.
The architectural design emerges from the belief that the future belongs to creative thinkers who embrace interdisciplinary learning. Inspired by local elements like the “rock lizard,” the structure adapts naturally to the landscape, harmonizing with the contours of the valley.
The building is tucked into the slope, with portions covered by earth berms that blend into the greenery. The main entry gradually reveals open vistas, while double-height spaces serve as hubs for art installations, exhibitions, and workshops.
Classrooms open into semi-covered decks, and skylights in the central corridor create dynamic patterns of light and shadow. Studios extend beyond walls, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. Outdoor classrooms near the water and clay zones encourage hands-on learning and interaction with nature.
The innovation hub on the first floor is accessed via a ramp integrated into the earth berm, connecting to an additional stilted block overlooking the valley. Inside, zones are defined for orientation, innovation, lab activities, and design studios — all reflecting the philosophy of “Learning how to learn.”
The neutral color palette of the structure serves as a backdrop for the vibrant student artworks that bring color, life, and texture into the space — a true celebration of creativity rooted in sustainability.
