NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to develop large-scale renewable energy projects in the state, with an estimated investment potential of ₹25,000 crore.
The proposed developments will include solar, wind, hybrid renewable projects and battery energy storage systems. These projects will be executed through NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a wholly owned subsidiary and the company’s dedicated renewable energy arm.
Under the MoU, the Government of Gujarat will facilitate statutory approvals, clearances and registrations in line with prevailing state policies to ensure the time-bound implementation of projects. The collaboration is also expected to create significant employment opportunities across project development, construction and operations.
The MoU was signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Saurashtra and Kutch region, held in Rajkot on January 12, 2026. The initiative aligns with NLCIL’s corporate plan to achieve 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and strengthens Gujarat’s position as a leading renewable energy hub in India.
The partnership also supports India’s broader clean energy and climate objectives, including expanding non-fossil fuel power generation capacity and progressing towards net-zero emissions.
