State-owned power major NTPC has added about 359.6 MW of solar capacity through projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan, taking its total installed and commercial capacity to 85,541 MW, according to ANI.
The latest additions enhance NTPC’s renewable energy portfolio and support its long-term clean energy goals. Key developments include:
243.66 MW commissioned from the Khavda-I Solar PV project in Gujarat, part of the 1,255 MW Khavda-I project developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a step-down subsidiary via NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL).
78 MW commissioned from the Nokh Solar PV project in Rajasthan, with a total planned capacity of 245 MW.
37.93 MW commissioned from the Khavda Solar Energy Project, part of the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V project in Gujarat.
With these additions, NTPC’s group commercial capacity has crossed 85.5 GW. NTPC currently contributes nearly one-fourth of India’s power generation and has over 30.9 GW under construction, including 13.3 GW from renewable sources.
The company aims to achieve 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032, in line with India’s net-zero ambitions and commitment to a sustainable energy transition.
