Powering India’s Future: One Milestone at a Time
NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) has successfully commissioned 75.5 MW of its 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar Project in Gujarat, declaring the section commercially operational from November 19, 2025. With this milestone, NGEL’s commercial operating capacity has risen to 7,563 MW, while its total installed renewable capacity now stands at 7,639 MW.
The Khavda-I project is being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II, Tranche-III, by NTPC Renewable Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of NGEL. Located in one of India’s highest solar irradiance zones, the project leverages advanced photovoltaic technology to maximise energy output and long-term efficiency.
This commissioning marks a pivotal advancement in India’s renewable energy mission, reinforcing momentum toward the country’s 500 GW non-fossil capacity target. As the green-focused arm of NTPC, NGEL continues expanding its project pipeline across major solar and wind clusters, strengthening its position as a key driver of India’s clean-energy transition.
The successful operationalisation of this phase highlights NGEL’s commitment to scalable, reliable, and sustainable energy generation—bringing India one step closer to a greener future.
