Patel Engineering Wins ₹1,593 Crore Lower Arun Hydropower Project Contract in Nepal

Patel Engineering Ltd has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a major contract worth ₹1,593.08 crore for the 669 MW Lower Arun Hydropower Project in Nepal.

The contract has been awarded by SJVN Lower Arun Power Development Company Pvt Ltd and covers Package 2 of the project, which includes critical civil and hydro-mechanical works.

The scope of work involves the construction of key infrastructure such as head race tunnels, surge shafts, pressure shafts, and the powerhouse. It also includes associated facilities like a switchyard and tail race channel, which are essential for the efficient functioning of the hydropower station.

In addition, the package includes the installation of steel liners, draft tube gates, and other related hydro-mechanical equipment, alongside the development of access roads and supporting infrastructure required for project execution.

The Lower Arun Hydropower Project is located in the Sankhuwasabha District and is a strategically important renewable energy project aimed at strengthening Nepal’s hydropower generation capacity. The contract is scheduled for completion within 54 months.

Kavita Shirvairkar said the order marks a strong beginning for the company in Q1 FY27 and reinforces its expertise in executing large-scale hydropower and infrastructure projects.

The win also highlights growing cross-border collaboration in the hydropower sector, with Indian engineering firms playing a key role in Nepal’s renewable energy expansion and regional power development.

With this contract, Patel Engineering further strengthens its order book and reinforces its position as a leading player in hydropower construction and infrastructure development across South Asia.
