The Autonomous State Medical College (ASMC), its affiliated district hospital and the district women’s hospital in Pilibhit have begun operating on solar energy following the commissioning of a 1.5 MW solar photovoltaic project.

Implemented under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model, the project is designed to provide a reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply, particularly for intensive care units, emergency departments and other critical healthcare services.

According to ASMC Principal Sangeeta Aneja, the solar installation will remain operational for 25 years. Maintenance and repair services will be managed by the service provider throughout this period at no additional cost to the hospitals.

Officials stated that the solar power plant is expected to generate approximately 7,000–7,500 units of electricity every day. This output will meet the hospitals’ overall electricity demand while reducing dependence on conventional power sources and significantly lowering carbon emissions.

OMC Power Private Limited was awarded the project by the state government. The performance and electricity generation of the solar system will be reviewed every three months to ensure operational efficiency and consistent power supply.
