Powering peak hours with the sun — India’s green energy revolution begins in Pugal.
Bikaner, Rajasthan: The Rajasthan government has officially launched the Pugal Solar Park, India’s largest integrated solar and battery storage project, combining 2,450 MW of solar power capacity with 5,000 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
Spread across 4,353 hectares of government-leased land, the mega project aims to deliver firm renewable power during peak demand hours, helping bridge the state’s projected energy deficit of 22,000 MWh by FY29.
Developed by the Rajasthan Solar Park Development Company Ltd (RSDCL) under Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL), the Pugal Solar Park is expected to attract investments exceeding ₹18,000 crore.
Speaking at the launch, Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar described the project as a “game changer for Rajasthan’s sustainable growth”, emphasizing its role in positioning the state as India’s renewable energy leader.
Energy Secretary Ajitabh Sharma announced that tenders for the project will open on November 28, 2025, under a tariff-based competitive bidding process. The project offers a plug-and-play model with assured grid connectivity and long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to ensure bankability and investor confidence.
The initiative has already drawn interest from global energy investors, including Brookfield, Masdar, BlackRock, and EDF Renewables, who are eyeing participation in this landmark clean energy venture.
With this launch, Rajasthan strengthens its position as a national hub for solar innovation, driving India closer to its net-zero and energy security goals while transforming Pugal into the heart of the country’s green power revolution.
