Tata Communications Acquires 26% Stake in Clean Max Renewable Energy SPV

Tata Communications has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire a 26% equity stake in Clean Max Yuhdul, strengthening its commitment to clean energy adoption and long-term sustainability goals.

The investment is aimed at increasing the use of renewable energy across Tata Communications’ operations in Karnataka while supporting the company’s carbon neutrality and net-zero objectives. According to a regulatory filing, Tata Communications will acquire 2,600 equity shares from Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions for a total cash consideration of ₹26,000 at ₹10 per share.

The agreement was executed on Friday as part of the company’s strategy to improve energy efficiency and reduce dependence on conventional power sources. Incorporated in October 2025, Clean Max Yuhdul is a special purpose vehicle operating in the solar and wind energy sector. The company has not yet commenced commercial operations and currently has no reportable financials.

Tata Communications stated that the renewable power generated through the SPV will be used for captive consumption at its facilities in Karnataka. The move is expected to help optimise energy costs while expanding the company’s renewable energy footprint in the region.

The investment reflects the growing trend among large corporations in India to secure dedicated renewable energy sources through captive and group captive models as businesses accelerate their transition toward sustainable operations and cleaner energy infrastructure.
