Waaree Energies is evaluating the establishment of a solar cell manufacturing facility in the United States as part of its broader strategy to expand its footprint in the rapidly growing American solar market.
Chairman and Managing Director Hitesh Doshi said the company will consider the investment after completing the expansion of its US solar module manufacturing capacity from the current 1.6 GW to 4.5 GW over the next six months.
Waaree already operates a solar module manufacturing facility in the United States and significantly strengthened its American presence in 2025 through its subsidiary Waaree Solar Americas Inc by acquiring selected US assets of Meyer Burger for $18.5 million. The acquisition included a 1 GW heterojunction technology assembly line, enhancing the company’s advanced solar manufacturing capabilities.
The company sees significant growth opportunities in the US solar market, which currently demands nearly 50–60 GW of solar capacity annually and continues to depend heavily on imports. Waaree aims to increase its market share by aligning closely with local regulations, supply chain requirements, and customer expectations in the region.
Alongside its international expansion plans, Waaree is also focusing aggressively on India’s clean energy transition. The company is working towards building an integrated energy transition ecosystem spanning solar manufacturing, renewable power generation, and related clean energy infrastructure.
To support its ambitious expansion and diversification strategy, Waaree Energies is preparing a fundraising plan worth approximately ₹10,000 crore. The planned capital raise is expected to strengthen the company’s manufacturing capabilities, expand global operations, and support future investments across renewable energy segments.
