Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has added over 5 GW (5,051 MW) of renewable energy capacity in FY26, taking its total operational portfolio to 19.3 GW.
The company stated that this represents the highest annual greenfield renewable capacity addition globally by any company outside China, marking a major milestone in India’s clean energy journey.
The newly added capacity includes:
These additions are expected to offset nearly 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, significantly contributing to India’s climate goals.
A major share of this capacity has been commissioned at AGEL’s Khavda Renewable Energy Project in Gujarat, which is being developed as the world’s largest renewable energy plant.
Spread across 538 square kilometres, the Khavda project is planned to scale up to 30 GW by 2029, with 9.41 GW already installed.
Sagar Adani, Executive Director, said that this achievement places India firmly on the global clean energy map and reflects the company’s commitment to accelerating the energy transition.
In addition, AGEL has commissioned 1,376 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) at Khavda, enhancing grid stability and enabling better integration of renewable energy.
The company also continues to strengthen its ESG leadership, maintaining strong global sustainability rankings while expanding its clean energy footprint.
This milestone underscores the growing momentum of India’s renewable energy sector and its ambition to become a global leader in sustainable power generation.
