External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has called for stronger India-Japan collaboration in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, clean energy, critical minerals, and space, underscoring their strategic significance in the evolving global order.
Speaking at the 8th India-Japan Indo-Pacific Forum, Jaishankar highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s August visit to Japan, during which both nations outlined a 10-trillion-yen investment roadmap and identified eight priority pillars for cooperation over the next decade.
He emphasized that India and Japan are jointly enhancing supply chain resilience, economic security, and next-generation mobility partnerships, while also advancing cooperation on clean hydrogen and ammonia technologies. The minister also pointed out that the Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation has elevated defence ties, and that new initiatives in human resource development will strengthen people-to-people connections.
Jaishankar affirmed that these initiatives mark a maturing strategic partnership between India and Japan, one that aims to foster innovation-driven, sustainable, and resilient growth across the Indo-Pacific region.
