India and New Zealand have launched the India–New Zealand Strategic Partnership and unveiled the Roadmap to 2030, a comprehensive framework designed to deepen bilateral cooperation across trade, defence, clean energy, technology, education and regional security.

The roadmap was announced during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first official visit to New Zealand and is structured around six key pillars of collaboration. It reflects the shared commitment of both countries to building a stronger, future-focused strategic relationship.

India and New Zealand aim to double their bilateral trade in goods and services to NZ$7 billion, approximately ₹35,000 crore, by 2030. The two countries will also advance negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement and explore direct air connectivity to strengthen business, tourism and people-to-people relations.

In the defence sector, both nations plan to expand military exchanges, conduct bilateral naval exercises and improve cooperation in maritime security, cybersecurity and counter-terrorism.

The roadmap also promotes joint initiatives in digital innovation, climate technologies, agriculture and renewable energy. Cooperation will be strengthened through platforms such as the International Solar Alliance and the Global Biofuels Alliance.

India and New Zealand also reaffirmed their support for a free, open, inclusive and rules-based Indo-Pacific region. The partnership is expected to improve regional stability while encouraging sustainable economic growth, technological collaboration and energy security.
